this blog stands for -
decency, humility, civility, and the common good.
it believes in the common good within all human beings with no exceptions.

unfortunately today we live in a corrupt and morally unkempt time where to discern between good and bad seems almost impossible.

perhaps it was always like this, but more importantly, IT IS LIKE THIS NOW.

because of this environment of seeming moral decay, the traditional view of things like
morals, guidance, mentoring, civics et al.
is totally debased
and very, very often without merit.

this in itself is a problem
but the larger problem
is that we refuse to acknowledge this corrupt state of affairs.

this blog acknowledges it.

i am a gentle person.
i am a nice person.
i love people on a deep emotional level.
but, because these words hardly mean anything anymore
and maybe never did
i will have to go about showing how i feel in a
drastically different way.
i will essentially have to say
THE OPPOSITE
of what i feel deep down
and know to be true.

i remember when i was a kid i assumed my teachers knew what they were talking about and that adults had their act together.

i find i was generally wrong in making this assessment.

most adults are usually a desperate mess emotionally and have stifled their inherent confidence and natural goodness to a terrible degree.

the situation is so bad that virtually nobody wants to talk about it.

in this blog we talk about it.

i never really wanted to be a counselor
or to share my ideas like a therapist or preacher does.
i figured i would teach elementary school or be an artist of some kind.  that was my idea of sharing.

i am private, shy and humble.
i do not like to be out there,
i'd rather be in the background.
i tell you these things now
because this blog will give you little indication
of all this.
